How would you describe the workload at BC? Do students study at home during the weekends or go out and relax with their friends?
"There is a good amount of work at BC, it can be easy to get behind homework and projects but if you are organized it is very capable to keep up and stay ahead. I feel that the weekends at BC is where kids try to go out with friends into Boston or attend a football game. A lot of people will try and do homework on a Saturday morning then go out for the rest of the day since there is always something to do."
What’s your favorite class?
"My favorite class is probably family, school, and society which is under the lynch school of education. In this class we learn about all the injustices a child can face in their lives which may affect their learning. It is more of a discussion based class and the work does not feel like work at all because all the topics are very intriguing."
What is your major and why did you choose this major?
"My major is secondary education with a math concentration. I chose this because I have always dreamed of being a highschool teacher because I want to give back to communities and be a role model for teenagers. I specifically chose math because that is also my strongest subject and I have been a tutor for math for many years."
What inspired you to work hard to strive to get into BC?
"My classmates in high school and my teachers have always inspired me to work hard throughout high school. I never worked hard specifically to get into BC, but I always wanted to improve my skills and that eventually led me to BC. When I applied to BC it was my absolute reach school since it is #4 in the country for undergraduate teaching programs, but somehow I got in and I could not be happier."
What do you think makes BC unique?
"I think the people of BC make the college so unique. Compared to other top 50 universities, students don’t feel a sense of competition between one another. Except, everyone is always so eager to help one another to strive academically. As well, everyone I have met has the common characteristic of compassion for one another. People truly care about one another even if you just joined their club or are new in a class. That is what made BC feel like home for me."
