For John Jay, I had the opportunity to interview two wonderful people, a person who prefers to remain anonymous and Manu! Both provided great answers and I would definitely recommend you guys to check it out if you're interested in CUNY John Jay!
manu

What is your major and why did you choose it?
-
"Im an out-of-state student from South Carolina. My grandfather was a police officer in my birthcity of Hyderabad India, so i knew i wanted to study Criminal justice."
-
"And John Jay college is by far the best criminal justice school in the world."
-
"The location in Midtown Manhattan gives so much practical sense of the subject - lots of opportunities. Manhattan is your campus."
-
"- the entire school is social justice guided. Curriculum values the spirit of social justice, and there is a somewhat shared mindset of social welfare for all students at the school."
-
"Lots of teachers are active or retired members of law enforcement (at least in the criminal justice major) but its the best part because they are very smart and qualified people who give real life view on the subject and real life. - You're not gonna get that at any other school, regardless of prestigious ranks. John jay offers a very REAL perspective."
What makes John Jay so special to you?
-
"Like take for example my Police Science teacher - soph year. The man was retired 4star (highest rank) detective for NYPD. He worked Harlem homicide for 20 years at the peak of hia career. But it played so personally - couldn't keep the fam and himself and work together , lost his wife and son."
-
"But it’s insane the things you learn from people like that."
-
"My Current CJBS professor has 3masters and 2phds - he’s 30 years old and works Counter-terrorism for NYPD."

-
"Definitely recommend as a college"

What is one thing you wished you did more research on before applying to colleges?

"Work on campus to learn about important resources and get priority class sign up benefits."
-
"I’m glad I went to the school that best valued my major. I recommend wherever you go- study what you love."
Were you given financial aid? If yes, did it remove some pressure?
-
"I’m not on financial aid. But JJAY is a CUNY school so If you reside in NYC tuition is like 2,000."

"Out of state is 15."
-
"Another 15000 per year to rent in nyc."
