For Brigham Young University, I had the pleasure to interview Lily, who was so kind enough to provide some insightful responses on the college life at Brigham Young University! Check out the responses below! Thank you so much Lily! - Dayanna
What is your major and why did you choose this major?
"I’m a psychology major, I chose psychology because it is my dream to be a school psychologist. I really looked up to and loved the school psychologist at my own elementary school because she was so good at helping my little brother that’s on the autism spectrum. I want to do that."
what inspired you to work hard to strive to get into BYU?
"I really wanted to be on BYU’s swim and dive team, and I knew I’d need to work really hard in high school to do that. I had to work hard in the classroom and in the pool. I always thought of BYU as a dream school that would be very difficult to get into, but it's doable."
Were you able to take most of your first-choice classes?
"Yes I was, and that was mostly thanks to being a student athlete. We have a lot of help with scheduling and prioritizing our classes."
how much reading and writing is required in your courses?
"A lot!! Most of my homework for most classes is reading. I have to make sure I’m really prioritizing my time so that I can get all my reading done everyday. Sometimes it takes hours to get it all done. And most classes require at least two essays per semester, but other classes, like my writing class, obviously required a lot more writing."
are most of your classes taught by professors or teaching assistants?
"Most of my classes are taught by professors, but a lot of my classes also have separate labs that are taught by the TA’s. And it’s usually the easiest to get into contact with the TA’s if I need help with something."
