Are there any negatives to having the city be your campus? Or do you think it’s better than a traditional college campus experience?

What is the social life like? Do you find yourself spending a ton of time on work, or do you have the time to go out and hang with others?

What made you choose your school over others you got accepted to?

What are the most useful student resources the city college of New York has?

For this interview I was able to speak to a CCNY student studying at the Sophie Davis School of Biomedical education.

"It isn’t the traditional college campus experience. There are pros and cons to this. Yes, the college isn’t as focused on bringing frequent activities for you to do as other colleges do. However, being close to the city you have one of the most exciting places on earth at your disposal. So at times I do wish there were more activities on my own campus but I still am grateful to be able to hop on a subway and explore the 'Big Apple.'"

"Since my school is primarily a commuter school most of my classmates I only see in class. However this does not mean there is no social life. I was able to meet some people that I am now very close friends with and spent of most of my time with. Honestly the time spent on work is up to the person. For me personally, schoolwork has always been a priority, even in college. However, I learned how to manage my time so that I would have enough time to study and also have enough time to have fun. I was able to go to the gym, read for leisure, hang out with my friends, go to parties, and enjoy fun things in the city such as ice skate in Bryant park or see Mean Girls the musical."

"For me it was always my dream

school and it lined up with what I wanted to do in life: become a caring and prepared physician who could make a difference."

"The most useful resource at a student’s disposal at CCNY in my opinion is the library. They have thousands of books on any topic you could think of and the librarians are always eager to help you deal with databases and writing papers. In addition it allows students to have access to many computers and printers. Another resource that is useful for many students is the language center which helps many students with grammar and forming essays for free."
