For Long Island University, I had the opportunity to interview Arianne, who was so kind enough to provide some amazing responses to help students who are interested in gaining an insight into college life at LIU. I recommend you to check out the great responses! Thank you so much Arianne!

How would you describe the workload at LIU? Do students study at home during the weekends or go out and relax with their friends?

"Personally I feel like the workload depends on your major unless your a first year student because it’s just your basic Gen-Ed  courses but if you find a way to balance everything then it should be no problem. When living on campus a lot of students take the opportunity of four day weekends to go home but other than that they either relax with their friends or attend any events that are held on campus during the weekends like any sport events."

how is tHE SIZE OF THE CLASSES? ARE THEY AROUND 100-200 or relatively small like 20-40?

"The size of the class I would also say depends on your major the smallest classes have been at least 15-20 students but the largest has been about maybe 40-60 and those classes are normally held in the lecture halls."

How would you describe the weather at LIU? Does it frequently snow? Do most people dorm or commute?

"The weather at LIU is constantly changing there would be times where it’s cold in the morning but warmer by the afternoon. Or sunny but cold at the same time. It rarely snowed this year when it did it wasn’t that much or wasn’t that much of a problem. I think most people commute to LIU especially if they live in the area but the people who dorm are from all over."

What do you think makes LIU unique?

"What makes LIU unique to me is that it has something for everyone whether it be clubs that are associated with your major, clubs to join, or Greek life. There's something for everyone here to do even if they didn’t have the intention of doing something.

What is one advice you would give to current juniors who are thinking of applying to LIU? What should they research upon arrival?

"One piece of advice I would give would be that before you make your final decision would be to make sure that your college choice is somewhere that your comfortable with and you can call home for the next four years of your life whether you commute or dorm."
