For UW-Madison, I had the pleasure of interviewing Meghana. She was super kind and enthusiastic. She gave very in-depth answers on academics and student life. You should definitely check out her answers! - Elizabeth

What is your major and why did you choose it?

“My major is biomedical engineering and I chose it because I’m very interested in STEM, and going into biomedical engineering gives me a large variety of options for a career in the future which was really attractive to me! Also the engineering program at UW is great.”

How’s the weather? Does it frequently snow? What would you advise students to bring when coming to UW?

“HAHA the weather is interesting… The nice thing is that you get to experience the best of all seasons, so really pretty fall and cold/snowy winter, and then a super nice springtime and Madison in general is very pretty any time of year, but the snow and ice during the winter can sometimes get really really cold! I would say, try to be prepared for anything.”

What makes this school special to you?

“For me, UW is super special because I grew up here and have been able to use the campus resources/facilities my whole life, so it’s very familiar to me and I wouldn’t want to go anywhere else, and being here as a student is even more amazing because of how good of a school it is.”

What are your favorite places to eat on campus?

“Dining hall wise, Gordon’s is my fave, but there’s so many good options for food because you can go to dining halls or the Unions and get relatively good food, or go to State Street and eat out which is always super fun! There’s also the best ice cream flavors at UW :)”

What is the learning atmosphere and atmosphere of the school in general?

“There’s a really good learning atmosphere because people are at all different levels, but there’s a certain commitment to education/drive for academics that everyone who goes here has. The overall environment can sometimes be hard to find where you fit in because of it being such a big party school, but there are lots of different kinds of people and it’s overall really welcoming.”
