How would you describe the weather at UChicago? Does it frequently snow? What would advise students to bring when coming to UChicago?
"The weather in Chicago is as people say it is. However, it is bearable! Especially with systems set in place by the administration to make our commute to class easier. It starts getting cold around November and ends in March. We are on winter break during the worst part of the winter (between December and January). There is at least 2-4 weeks where it is constantly at 0°. The snow varies around 2-8 inches. There are passages between 2nd floor bridges and passages underneath the quad to help alleviate the stress of the snow and really harsh weather. I would advise students coming to UChicago not to let this scare you. It may be cold in terms of weather but it will never be cold emotionally. And you’ll get used to the snow, especially by having fun with it. SNOWBALL FIGHTS ON THE QUAD!!!!"
What inspired you to work hard to strive to get into UChicago?
"I wanted a reputable institution that would provide me with resources to attain really ambitious aspirations. UChicago is know for being a hub of learning that sparks some of the world’s greatest discoveries and creates some of the world’s greatest thinkers. Just last year they had Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg casually come to campus to talk to the students and have conversations that you cannot have anywhere else. There really was no other institution, in my opinion, that could give me what UChicago was offering. I pushed myself to be competitive for an institution like that because I cared about achieving my own academic and personal goals!!"
What are you planning to major and why did you choose this major?
"I am bouncing around majors right now. I’m excited to be exposed to the Core Curriculum at UChicago to get a grasp of a lot of different fields. However, International Affairs has interested me a lot. Studying precedents set in different countries and how they interpret that law has always fascinated me. Additionally, how other countries interact with one another is something that would give me a good basis for how the US plays a role in the development of numerous countries."
