I had the opportunity to interview someone who chose to remain anonymous. They provided some great responses for students interested in Stevens Institute of Technology and I highly recommend you check out their responses! Thank you again! - Meg

What makes this school so special to you?

"Every single person at Stevens has goals and ambitions. It’s nice knowing that every kid in your class is working just as hard as you are. Everyone is motivated to do their best so it’s an environment where students can thrive. The view/ location is also something that makes it unique. Seeing the Hudson River and New York right across the river  from you is great. The location is right next to NY so the networking and job opportunities are endless."

was it your first choice and your dream school?

"After touring a bunch of colleges Stevens was my top choice. It was small, innovative, and had great professors. The education is great there and known to be challenging. I knew I wanted a challenge and that it would pay off in the future."

What was your reaction when you opened your acceptance letter?

"I was home when I found out I got accepted. I was nervous to open the mail since I heard that a bunch of people from my school were waitlisted. After opening it and seeing that I was accepted I immediately knew this would be my new home for the next 4 years. I was so happy. I knew it was the perfect school for me and all that was standing in the way was an acceptance letter. "

What is your major and why did you choose this major?

"My major is Chemical Engineering. Math and science always came easy to me and I knew I enjoyed those subjects rather than English or history. I knew engineering seemed the most interesting to me. After taking honors chem and AP chem I had a passion for chemistry. I thought chemical engineering would be the best fit."

How would you describe the workload? Do students study at home during the weekends or go out and relax with their friends?

"The workload is a lot, being completely honest. But college is when you have to work hard for what u want to do for the rest of your life. The students at Stevens vary a lot. There are students that prefer to stay in on weekends and not go out to party. There are also students who do most of their work on weekdays so the weekend is free to relax and go out with friends. There is a close Greek life community that is very fun but does amazing things for their philanthropies. (With it being 70% males, most girls rush to find other girls friends  with similar interests) The city is only a $2.50 path ride away so going into NY for the day is another popular thing. Since there is such diverse interests among the students, anyone will find their place with the right group of friends :)"
