For BU, I was so fortunate to interview Preet, who was so sweet to provide an insight into her college life at BU and provide some advice for students who are interested in BU! I recommend you to check out her responses! Thank you so much Preet!

How would you describe the weather at BU? Does it frequently snow? What would advise students to bring when coming to BU?

"it’s not so much the snow that’s bad in Boston but it can get rainy and windy so definitely an umbrella, good rain jackets, and some solid boots. There’s a lot of walking in between classes and BU never shuts down for snow days so definitely layer up! Scarves and gloves are super useful too, I use mine almost every day in the winter!"

What makes BU? So special to you? Was it your first choice and your dream school?

"what makes BU special to me is the fact that it offers so much as an undergraduate and graduate university, I never find myself searching hard for research and internship opportunities, and good connections in whatever field you want to go into are easy to come by with the faculty. Also the fact that it is located in a city as big as Boston which is full of so many other great schools with diverse and fun communities. BU actually wasn’t my top choice it was my second choice but I couldn’t imagine not being in Boston for college it’s a one of a kind experience for sure."

Were you awarded financial aid? If yes, did it lift off some pressure?

"i was actually not awarded financial aid, but I have a lot of friends that are who say the process is fairly manageable and BU seems to be fairly generous with financial aid!"

What is most common majors at BU?

"Communications for sure because it’s a highly esteemed program, but also human physiology/psychology on a premed track. Obviously college of arts and sciences is biggest then communications and then engineering etc.

What is one tip you would give to high school students, especially juniors who are currently Researching colleges to apply to? Should they research how good the food is, the weather, or how prestigious the college is?

"one tip I would give for juniors especially right now is to pay attention to the way different universities, especially larger ones, are responding to the covid crisis financially, academically, and personally with their students. The university’s relationship with their students is wayy more important than the name and prestige of the university, especially right now."
